Kilmeston Village Hall

first class facilities, a focus and a forum for our village

Funding is increasingly an issue for Village Halls as the burden of compliance with health and safety seems to expand constantly and rural investment has fallen out of favour with the Lottery funds.

The recent refurbishments were funded partly by grants from the Parish Council, Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council. However the overwhelming majority of the funds (around £80,000) was raised by Kilmeston residents. The refurbishment programme is not yet complete because, sooner or later, preferably sooner, the wooden part of the structure needs to be replaced in brick.

Maintenance of the Hall depends on an income stream. We benefit from income from the First Fridays, the Summer Barbecues, the Harvest Suppers and from individual users. So there is an element of "use-it-or-lose-it" as there is for all village halls.

Currently, the Hall is in regular use by Wildflowers Kindergarten, which provides a valuable income stream.

If you have ideas for other opportunities for regular use, please contact any member of the Committee.

Donations and legacies are always welcome!
